Description

Tipu's Drop is one of the oldest visiting places. It is located on a hilltop on a cliff which lies 600 m above the elevated ground. One gets a beautiful view of all the hill ranges from the hill top. Yoganandeeshwara temple is a shrine which is located on the side of the hill top and was built by the Chola kings. The place is a scenic beauty and is a must-visit for the nature lovers. It gives a sense of peace and satisfaction away from the hustle of the city.

It dates back to the time when the drop was used as a place to push the prisoners off the cliff as a punishment for their wrong doings. The sound of the rustling leaves is said to be the screams of the inmates who were pushed off the cliff. One gets a fantastic view of the entire city from the hill top.

Tipu’s drop has also been a place from where many people have either committed suicide or have slipped and fallen off. Preparations are now being made to prevent such accidents from taking place so that the spot becomes a much safer place to visit..
